Suhoor Menu Ideas

There is much barakah (blessings) in waking up for sahoor (the pre-sunrise meal before fasting begins), as it was the tradition of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) to eat it.  I can hardly get through the day if I don’t have a healthy one. Here are some simple menu ideas for a simple, healthy suhoor.

  • Coffee or tea
  • plenty of water
  • dates
  • boiled eggs
  • turkey sausages or kebobs leftover from dinner
  • waffles with honey or plain pita bread

Although it may sound like a lot of food, you don’t have to eat a lot of each item. Wake up from your sleep, make wudu (ablutions), pray two rakat of nafl (optional) prayers, then come to the table for your meal. Eat slowly and drink after, not before or during your meal to avoid indigestion.

Insha’allah this is just one of many ideas for a simple suhoor to keep you going throughout your day of fasting this Ramadan.
